Yooo-genics

I was going to post this as a comment on Jacob's site, but it started getting really long. I think I'm a eugenicist too (hee hee; I just lumped you in with me. We're goin' down together!). We should just mock up a standard for humans taking into account intelligence, skills ('cus girls only like guys with cool skills), and what Dan and I call "competence", that is, the ability to move through life with... well, competence. It's pretty difficult to describe, unless you're a fellow competent person. There seem to be very few of us. I know of maybe a dozen. I barely make it into the category, by my own measure. Anyway; anyone who doesn't make the cut doesn't get a baby license.
We have to take into account what this would do to the global population. They keep complaining about over-population, but it seems that with the advent of space exploration, and the inevitable colonization, we'll need all the extra people we can get. Today's modern family cannot be bothered with more than 2 children per family. Europe isn't even replacing it's population! It's actually shrinking! I'm thinking that there's a chance that "baby-licenses" would put a new premium on children that has not been present lately. Alternatively, it could discourage baby production among the poorer populations even more. Regardless, I think you've figured out that I'm a heartless bastard. "Baby production" indeed! What nerve!
